Located in the Laguna Village area is a house that is commonly referred to as "The Mermaid House."  The name refers to a time when a large majority of the homes in Laguna Beach where smaller bungalow style properties that were built in the rise of the 1920's.  Nowadays, we call these "Tiny Houses" expect these historic homes offer a world of charm and character that you won't find in today's newer construction homes.

How small is the home?  Well, for starters it features a total of two bedrooms, one full and one half bath with a total of 788 square feet of living space.  With the current list price of $1,395,000 this equates to $1,770.30 per square foot.  Sound expensive?  It may sound like a bargain depending on what part of the country you live in.

Laguna Beach is widely known for having very expensive land that causes homes to be located close to each other and built on small residential lots.  Many of these homes were built during the turn of the century as small vacation cottages from those who lived in the Los Angeles area.  It's not uncommon to find a 400 square foot home in the South Laguna area and commonly referred to as a "Laguna Beach Charmer" that typically features a small living room, kitchen, bathroom and a small bedroom.  Even with the small square footages these homes can be very expensive with the average medium price for a single family home starting at $600,000.

One of the most unusual tiny house that's currently on the market is located in the North Laguna area and situated
