Laguna Beach Farmhouse Homes

Living in Laguna Beach gets you accustomed to many architectural styles that include Mediterranean, Spanish and lots of Contemporary homes. One of the few architectural styles you don't commonly see is a home built in a Farmhouse style. A new listing has come on the market in the Smithcliffs gated community in Laguna Beach and is described as being built in the French Farmhouse architectural style. I have to admit I have never heard of a French Farmhouse architecture before but after doing some research I learned that it derives inspiration from the French Country style which offers a relaxed but elegant style with vaulted ceilings and top of the line finishes. Often the walls and valued ceilings are painted white to make the space feel even bigger. It also appears this style originally comes from the Provence region of France where you will find a lot of country homes in this area.
12 Smithcliffs Road offers a perfect blend of exterior wood and stone facade combined with white painted garage and multiple French doors that appear of the front facade. The interior is equally stunning with an A-Frame vaulted ceiling and walls painted entirely in white to give volume to the room with several skylights to add additional light into the room. The rich hardwood plank flooring is the perfect balance in this white space and really grounds the rooms. Normally you would think the hardwood flooring would flow throughout the house but this house offers a unique blend of limestone flooring in the Kitchen and Living rooms that looks like it could come from a courtyard in a country home in France. The one thing that impressed me about this design is the great use of light that comes into the home through a multitude of windows, French doors and skylights. The exterior backyard is equally as stunning as looks like a home you would see in the Hamptons complete with a large lap pool and jacuzzi tub. The home is listed at $5,468,000 which is a very competitive price for a North Laguna home in a premier gated community.
